Syrian Security Forces Kill More Protesters, according to activists - 29th Dec 2011

Syrian security forces have opened fire on anti-government protesters at demonstrations across the country and killed at least eight people, according to activists.

Two protesters were killed and around 20 wounded when troops shot at a demonstration in the restive suburb of Douma in Damascus, it was claimed.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said: "Syrian security forces opened fire on tens of thousands of demonstrators outside the Grand Mosque of Douma."

It added that the shooting happened when "Arab observers arrived at the city hall" as they continue to visit Syrian flashpoints.

The inspectors began their mission to Syria on Tuesday in the city of Homs where activists say scores of protesters have been killed. Read More
