Joel Barlow Still on the Run as Manhunt continues for the Queensland Health executive accused of stealing more than $16 million - 10th Dec 2011

A national manhunt is continuing for a Queensland Health executive accused of stealing more than $16 million.

Joel Barlow, 36, is accused of stealing money from Queensland Health over the past two to three years.

An $11 million payment in the past fortnight aroused police suspicions, raising serious questions about processes within the Health Department.

It is believed sums of money that appeared to have been transferred to service providers were actually being transferred to a private account.

Police say Mr Barlow, also known as Hohepa Morehu-Barlow, has several aliases and has business interests separate to his work as a finance manager in Queensland Health's Community Services branch.

Police say the national manhunt is underway for Mr Barlow and airports are being closely monitored.

They believe Mr Barlow may be in the south-east Queensland area and urge anyone who may know his whereabouts to contact them on CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police say they have applied to freeze Mr Barlow's assets, which include a luxury inner-city unit and several luxury cars including a Mercedes. Read More
