Teenager stabs to death attacker beating his uncle... without realising it was his own father - 5th Sept 2011

A teenager unwittingly stabbed his father to death when he went to the aid of his uncle as he was attacked.

The 17-year-old boy ran to defend his uncle when an attacker arrived at his home in Edgewood, Washington, on Friday night.

He had been at the house with his teenage cousin and uncle when his father, who was estranged from the family, arrived unexpectedly shortly after 10pm.

The 47-year-old, who has now been named as Ralph Paputsakis, was armed with a crowbar and began hitting his brother, 46, over the head.

The teenager saw the fight unfold through the window and went to help his uncle against the assailant, according to Komo News.

He ran outside with a knife and stabbed the attacker several times - without realising he was stabbing his own father, according to Sergeant Mike Blair of the Piece County Sheriff's Office.

'It’s dark. There’s one porch light. No streetlights,' the officer said. 'The teen sees his uncle being beaten and he tries to defend him. Then it escalates. The kid is fighting for his life.'

When police arrived at the property, they found the two brothers in the drive - the younger suffering from head wounds and the older from multiple stab wounds. Read More
