Shrien Dewani's extradition to South Africa Finally approved by Home Secretary

Shrien Dewani is a step closer to being extradited to South Africa to stand trial for the murder of his wife Anni.

Home Secretary Theresa May today approved the order which would force Dewani to court in South Africa, where Anni was killed while the couple were on their honeymoon.

He now has 14 days to appeal the decision.

Care home owner Dewani is accused of arranging a hit on his bride during their honeymoon in Cape Town last November.

A Home Office spokesman said: 'On Monday September 26 the Home Secretary, having carefully considered all relevant matters, signed an order for Shrien Prakash Dewani's extradition to South Africa.

'Mr Dewani now has the opportunity, within 14 days, to appeal to the High Court against the decision of the District Judge and/or the Home Secretary.' Read More
