Man's body found off Hokkaido, could be that of Hokkaido Railway Co. President Naotoshi Nakajima - 18th Sept 2011

A man's body was found in waters off the coast of Otaru, Hokkaido, by an angler Sunday morning, according to police.

The man, whose body was found at around 7:50 a.m., is believed to have been dead for several days, and the Hokkaido prefectural police are currently trying to confirm whether the body is that of Hokkaido Railway Co. President Naotoshi Nakajima, who has been missing since last Monday, having left apparent suicide notes, according to the police.

The police said they believe the man, who is about 170-180 centimeters tall and wearing a beige shirt and a pair of navy trousers, died from drowning, as there were no injuries found on his body.

The 64-year-old Nakajima went missing Monday morning after having been under stress dealing with a train derailment in May, officials of the railway operator, known as JR Hokkaido, said later in the day.

The police later found his car on a street near a beach in the city of Ishikari which is adjacent to Sapporo, while several suicide notes to his family, acquaintances and company personnel were found at his home in Sapporo.

The body was found off the coast of Otaru which is about 30 kilometers west from the street where his car was found, the police added. Read More
