Farmer arrested after mother-of-four is shot dead on remote farm - 19th Sept 2011

A farmer has been arrested after his wife, a mother of four children, was found shot dead on remote farmland.

Armed police and a helicopter arrived at a property near Parracombe in north Devon around 5.40pm yesterday after neighbours reported hearing gunshots.

The dead woman's children - three of whom are of school age - were being comforted by family liaison officers while arrangements were made for them to stay in a place of safety. It is unclear whether any of them witnessed the shooting. Read More
