Journalists Freed From Tripoli Rixos Hotel Ordeal - 24th Aug 2011

A group of foreign journalists who were trapped at the Rixos hotel in Tripoli have been freed.

More than 30 members of media teams were prevented from leaving by Colonel Gaddafi's forces but are now out of the hotel.

Sky engineer Jude Burrows-Seaby was held at the hotel. He said the situation had been "very stressful."

He continued: "We managed to negotiate our way out of the hotel with the help of the International Red Cross...Food and water was a definite problem...the kitchens were raided by the Gaddafi soldiers who came in.

"We had been told that (regime spokesman) Moussa Ibrahim had told them to keep us here to stop us working for the rebels."

He said a good sense of humour had kept the group going through the worst times. Read More
