Jermaine Collins Remanded as his mother refuses to give her £1 million council house as bail address in fear of being evicted - 19th Aug 2011

A mother yesterday allowed her teenage son to be jailed over rioting allegations rather than run the risk of being evicted from her £1million council house.

Della Collins refused to let the family home be used as a bail address when 19-year-old Jermaine Collins appeared before magistrates in London.

It left the court with little option but to jail the youngster overnight ahead of a final decision on his fate today.

The 47-year-old mother-of-nine’s decision to abandon her son came a week after, in the first case of its kind, Wandsworth Council served an eviction order on the mother of 18-year-old Daniel Sartain-Clarke after he was charged with violent disorder and attempting to steal electronic goods during the unrest.
