Javaris Crittenton Wanted for Murder in a Drive-by Shooting will turn himself in on Tuesday to prove his innocence - 30th Aug 2011

NBA Player Javaris Crittenton, who is wanted for murder in a drive-by shooting, will turn himself in to police in the morning.

The 23-year-old's attorney said he will surrender to authorities because he knows he is innocent and is determined to prove this.

Brian Stell said: 'He offered to turn himself in. He's not guilty. We look forward to getting it to the courts.'

Before today the FBI as well as police in Atlanta and Los Angeles had been looking for the basketball player in connection with the shooting of Julian Jones, 23, in Atlanta on August 19.

Police said Ms Jones was walking with a group of people outside her Macon Drive home in southeast Atlanta when she was shot in the hip in a drive-by shooting. She later died during surgery.

Authorities believe Crittenton was in the black Chevrolet Tahoe and that he was retaliating for an April 21 jewellery robbery in which he was a victim and believed a person on the sidewalk was responsible.

Initial reports suggested Jones was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Later reports said she knew the two men. Read More
