The U.S. claims Syria has caused the deaths of more than 2,000 of its own people in attacks on peaceful protesters during the five-month uprising.Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the Syrian government has lost legitimacy in its country and the U.S. will apply more pressure on them.
Syrian tanks have been tightening their occupation of Hama as President Bashar al-Assad ignored mounting international condemnation.
Hama residents said at least 45 people were killed as tanks occupied the city where his late father killed thousands to crush a 1982 rebellion.
