Gaddafi's secret tunnels: Rebels break into labyrinth for the first time as they claim to have cornered leader and sons - 26th Aug 2011

Rebel gunmen claimed to have cornered Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi yesterday as they laid siege to a possible hideout and broke into his secret labyrinth of underground tunnels.

Troops appeared to have captured the Abu Salim neighbourhood of Tripoli, one of the last remaining areas of the city still loyal to the leader close to his compound where it had been thought he was hiding.

Although the rebels raised their flag last night, before daybreak today more fighting was going on. There was no sign of Gaddafi. Read More
