Kevin Gonterman, 25, gets stuck 30 feet down sewer for two days, gets bitten by snakes and SURVIVES - 25th July 2011

A man who was bitten by snakes and trapped down a manhole has been found alive two days after he went missing.

Kevin Gonterman, 25, from Texas, was last seen on Saturday at 4.30pm after having a fight with his girlfriend and he was reported as a missing person on Sunday.

Volunteers had been combing the woods near his home when they noticed an open manhole in a field with the cover moved off.

When they looked inside they found the 25-year-old trapped 30-feet down the hole and covered in snake bites.

Authorities say he may have died if they did not find him.

Rescuers pulled him from the sewer, located about 150 yards from the road, around 1pm.

He was said to have been conscious and speaking lucidly when he was taken to hospital.

Texas Equusearch's Frank Black said: 'I don't think that he would probably have made it through the rest of the day.

'He obviously was suffering from dehydration. He looked delirious. He's very lucky he was found.' Read More
