Garrett Berki, 18 a California college student robbed and murdered by three teens who posed as computer sellers on Craigslist - 15th May 2011

Mesa College student Garrett Berki, 18, and his girlfriend Alejandra Faudoa, 18, answered a Craigslist ad for a $600 computer in the San Diego area, only to have their day end in mayhem.

Mr Berki was shot and killed, allegedly after trying to follow his attacker's car to record their license plate number.

Three 17-year-olds are charged with the murder and for allegedly robbing the couple. Police claim they lured Mr Berki and Ms Faudoa to the Paradise Hills neighborhood of San Diego by posing as sellers of a computer on Craigslist.

Rashon Abernathy, Seandell Jones and Shaquille Jordan have pleaded not guilty in adult court to the charges, which include gang allegations, according to LaJollaPatch.

The three teens are held on $5million bail and could face 50 years to life in prison if convicted. A judge in the case has ordered their mugshots sealed.

Mr Berki graduated from La Jolla High School in 2010 and lived with his mother in Mission Beach, California.

He listed In-N-Out Burger, Chapparone Auto Body & Painting, race car driver Ken Block, San Diego and the state of California as interests and activities on his Facebook page.

Mr Berki's brother, Alexander Berki, 23, told reporters his younger brother loved to surf and that he wanted to be a businessman. He added that the young man had just purchased a BMW that he was 'very proud of'. Read More
