Tons of Dead Fish Removed From Hoyt Lake, Buffalo - 11th Apr 2011



BUFFALO, N.Y. -- For years, Hoyt Lake in Buffalo's Delaware Park has been known more for the scent than the scenery, all due to dead fish piling up on the banks. But that's about to change.

State Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60th District) helped secure $100,000 in this year's budget to purchase equipment and pay for the electrical bill to pump oxygen into the lake.

A lack of oxygen is to blame for the dead fish. The problem has gotten so bad, workers removed 4.6 tons of dead fish from the lake over a 3-day period last month, according to documents obtained by 2 On Your Side. Read More
